An exclusive club

New housing on Hong Kong's Beas River from Ronald Lu &

Partners

Valais is a luxury low-rise residential development sitting at the
picturesque Beas River, Sheung Shui, Hong Kong. It comprises
330 houses and 2 clubhouses with a site area of approximately
158,700 sq m. These contemporary two-storey and three-storey
detached and semi-detached villas range from 240 sq m to 840 sq m.
To dissolve the boundary between the site and the environment,
visual connections with the mountains and the river are established
by integrating lush landscapes to the development.
The 2,815-sq-m Valais Clubhouse provides recreational facilities to
the residents. To achieve a unifying setting with the landscape in this
sub-tropical climate, we put the architecture in a bold yet embracing
form, defined by clean lines and sensual materials. In the courtyard is
a 50-metre-long outdoor pool.
The pool connects sequential views of indoor and outdoor spaces that
filled with greenery, flora, grass, textures, lights and reflections. Various
overhanging shading features are designed to create shaded pockets of
outdoor spaces. The articulated vertical shading screens at both the atrium
and the indoor pool also create a meaningful dialogue between landscape
and interiors, a space that changes with time.http://static.worldarchitecturenews.com/news_images/15636_2__Valais02_1000pixel.jpghttp://static.worldarchitecturenews.com/news_images/15636_3__Valais03_1000pixel.jpghttp://static.worldarchitecturenews.com/news_images/15636_4__Valais04_1000pixel.jpghttp://static.worldarchitecturenews.com/news_images/15636_1__Valais_1000pixel.jpg
